Why I Help People Build Businesses
When I was seven years old, my dad bought a bicycle for my best friend. His mom is a kind person who raised four kids as a single mother on a nurse’s salary. On Christmas Day that year, she didn’t have the money to afford a new bicycle for my friend, so my dad bought one.
Even though our family had financial ups and downs, I realized we were fortunate and always have the opportunity to help others less fortunate. Since then, I’ve wanted to help as many people as possible become financially successful so they can live with greater freedom.
My Path in Business
I graduated college with degrees in finance and entrepreneurship in 2008. I went straight into investment banking with a job as an energy trading analyst. Within three months, I realized working for someone else was not for me. I had little motivation to line someone else’s pockets. After seven months, I quit.
I started an ecommerce business selling high-quality, research-backed health supplements. I learned everything I could about online marketing and grew that business to two million dollars in sales. There was just one problem…my business lost money. I faced a $100,000 American Express bill at 23 years old; I had no clue how to come up with the cash to pay it off.
All the books I read and conferences I attended taught me how to grow sales, none taught me how to produce consistent cash flow. I had to figure that out on my own.
Fortunately, I did and was able to sell that business for low six figures within a year.
Around the same time, I started selling on Amazon and discovered an opportunity…With a small amount of marketing on Amazon, you could beat huge brands. I sold over $100,000 in a month on Amazon.
At the time, my business sold about 20 products on Amazon. However, the marketing strategies I was using would work for millions of products I was never going to sell.
I partnered with an internet marketing expert who became my long-time business partner. We created a course teaching how to build businesses with Amazon called Amazing Selling Machine or ASM. We never anticipated the impact our course would have.
Over 30,000 people have taken it. Some members have become millionaires. We estimate members have sold over $9 billion online with businesses they built following our program.
Because of the success of ASM I’ve been able to meet and work with amazing business leaders such as Sir Richard Branson, Daymond John, John Mackey, Sara Blakely, and Robert Kiyosaki.
I’ve also been fortunate to be able to give back in money and time to others through organizations such as Virgin Unite, Rush Philanthropic Organization, Kiva, American Red Cross, and the Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship.
Why this Site?
At Amazing.com, we provide education, services, and software to help people build ecommerce businesses, specifically Amazon FBA private label businesses. After selling $200 million online across a variety of markets (including building one of the fastest-growing businesses in America), helping thousands of people create companies, and doing a ton of self-development work, I want a way to share all the lessons I’ve learned.
This website exists to share those lessons that reach far beyond Amazon. The topics I write about here range from building wealth and investing to improving productivity to becoming happier as a business leader.
